The mundane and the practical have been considered aesthetic (with varying degrees of success) for more than a century. At the same time, the built environment in technology parks and industrial areas has been poor in quality for an extended period. There are flashes, but they are few so far – but as part of the space that surrounds us daily, these areas also deserve attention. With modern possibilities, it is with little effort and simple techniques possible to give the practical a dignified form that improves the quality of the environment.
The MM Motorsport complex aims to update the set of characteristics of an extremely practical typology with the power of an exciting architectural solution. The space of about 1,500 m2 has been “cast” into a significantly more playful, even sculptural form than expected. As a description, the result is nothing outrageous – a box with rounded corners and a small step back in the middle. However, the choice of materials together with the described form gives rise to an unexpected and groundbreaking building.
